TUCSON - Investigators were working Tuesday to confirm the identity of a woman whose nude body was found hanging in a tree on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation in southern Arizona.
Tribal police and the FBI were investigating the woman's death. Her body was found Saturday and had a bullet wound but officials don't believe that was the cause of death, said Tohono O'odham Police Department Chief Richard Saunders. The woman is believed to be in her 30s, FBI spokeswoman Deborah McCarley said.
A passer-by found the body about noon Saturday on the reservation's San Xavier District, the Arizona Daily Star reported on its Web site.
The woman's body was suspended in the tree with wire, Saunders said, and her death is being investigated as a homicide.
