The search is over for a Scottsdale fugitive who was wanted by police on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.
Deputies from the Barrett County Sheriff’s Department arrested Leroy Clark at 2 p.m. at a gas station Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas, according to information from the San Antonio Police Department.
Clark, 32, had been on the run since June 14 after he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend in the head at a Scottsdale residence in the 2600 block of North Hayden Road, according to Scottsdale police. Police said Clark shot the 34-year-old woman in front of their 2-year-old daughter.
Scottsdale police had forwarded information about Clark to an FBI Fugitive Task Force, which received a tip that he was in the San Antonio area, according to Scottsdale police.
Clark, who was estranged from the woman, approached her as she arrived at the apartment with her boyfriend and daughter. He allegedly struck the woman with the butt of a handgun before she ran and he fired shots, according to Scottsdale police.
During a 911 call, the little girl said “Dad shot her.”
Clark also was wanted on suspicion of aggravated assault and first-degree burglary in connection to the incident.
Clark is awaiting extradition to Arizona.
