Officials revoked the certification of a Tempe police officer and suspended a former Apache Junction police officer from working in law enforcement during a Wednesday hearing by the board that certifies officers to work in the state.

Douglas Bacon, who worked for the Tempe Police Department, can never be an officer in Arizona again, officials said. The board revoked his certification for failing to notify supervisors when his partner didn’t process evidence or write a report for a child molestation case.

Damon Hovland, who worked for the Apache Junction Police Department, was arrested for disorderly conduct nearly a year ago near a Tempe bar while off-duty, officials said. He can apply to work as a police officer again in about six months.
