The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office raided the office of a charity linked to indicted County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox Thursday.
Lt. Brian Lee, sheriff’s spokesman, said a search warrant served on Chicanos Por la Causa, 1122 E. Buckeye Road, is in connection with the supervisor’s criminal indictment, which a grand jury issued Monday.
The 30-count indictment alleges Wilcox, a Phoenix Democrat, did not declare a conflict of interest when she voted several times on matters pertaining to the charity organization while she had business and personal loans from the group.
Supervisor Don Stapley, a Mesa Republican, was also indicted Monday on a separate case.
His indictment alleges he used campaign funds for a run as president of the National Association of Counties on personal luxuries and vacations.
Maricopa County Superior Court farmed out court proceedings for the supervisors to a Pima County judge.
