A Chandler city bus plowed through a wall Wednesday afternoon after the bus driver lost consciousness, according to Chandler authorities.

Police said no major injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m. near Warner Road and Delaware Street. Passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries, and an elderly woman was taken to a hospital as a precaution, Chandler fire officials said.

According to Detective Rick Griner, Chandler police spokesman, the driver lost consciousness for unknown reasons but reported feeling dizzy moments before he blacked out.

“There was no acceleration. The bus went up and over the curb, and the driver said he was driving and the next thing he knew, he woke up and they were in an accident,” Griner said.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
