PHOENIX - Authorities announced more felony charges Wednesday against one of two men accused of terrorizing Phoenix with a series of random late-night shootings.

Dale S. Hausner, 33, was indicted this week on two charges related to a Dec. 29, 2005, shooting incident in Tempe. The Maricopa County Attorney's Office alleged Hausner shot at a residence as retaliation on behalf of a friend who got in a dispute with a woman. There were no injuries.

Hausner and Samuel Dieteman, 31, already were accused of shooting at numerous people as they cruised Phoenix-area neighborhoods during the night. Hausner faces seven murder counts and Dieteman faces two murder counts. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty if they're convicted.

Both men have pleaded not guilty. Hausner's attorney did not return a call seeking comment Wednesday on the latest charges.

The new charges against Hausner include one count of discharge of a firearm at a structure and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

"These new charges are the result of continued determination on the part of law enforcement to hold this defendant accountable for all of his alleged crimes," Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said in a statement.

The shooting occurred the same night as two killing in downtown Phoenix that police say are tied to the so-called Serial Shooter case.
