A witness called 911 about 10:15 p.m. to report that four males forced a woman to the ground in the west parking lot of the shopping center. But officers who arrived within three minutes of the call found no sign of a crime.

The caller was about two parking spaces from the attack, and she left as soon the woman was taken to the ground, according to Sgt. Chuck Trapani, Mesa police spokesman.

Trapani said investigators don’t know whether the woman was abducted or only assaulted.

The woman is described as white and in her early 20s, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, medium build with dark brown hair in a pony tail. She was wearing a white tank top with a floral design and blue denim Capri pants.

The only description the witness could provide of the males was that they were all white and one appeared to be a teenager who wore a white t-shirt and a ball cap with dark bushy hair protruding from it.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Mesa police at (480) 644-2211.
