While Gilbert police were responding to an overdose call in an apartment complex, fire officials say a hazmat team evacuated 16 apartments after they discovered suspicious containers inside of the home.

According to Gilbert Fire Captain Mike Palmatier, a 23-year-old woman was transferred to a local hospital after an overdose call was placed at 10:37 a.m. for the Broadstone Apartment complex located at the intersection of Baseline and Higley roads.

After police responded, several containers were discovered inside of her home that contained an unknown substance, Palmatier said.

Officials are still investigating, but they allowed the building’s residents to return.
