Tempe police announced an arrest in connection with a string of arson fires at apartments and condos near Scottsdale and McKellips Roads.

The suspect is identified as 28-year-old Justin White. Tempe police say White has been charged with a total of twelve felony counts, including arson of a structure, arson of an occupied structure, burglary and auto theft.

The arrest was made based on physical evidence obtained at the crimes scenes and corroborating statements made by the suspect.

Tempe police Commander Kim Hale said White "liked to watch fires. That was his motivation."

Tempe fire investigators say White is responsible for about $100,000 in damage. The blazes have torched trash containers, a laundry room and a condominium duplex that forced one family out of its home.
