Mesa police responded en masse to a call from an officer in distress at 2010 N Lazona Dr. on Thursday night after he came across a man firing a shotgun at a car, a police spokesman said.

No one was injured, and the man with the shotgun was later arrested, said police spokesman Detective Steven Berry.

It turned out the man had been angry with the owner of the car and did not intend to hurt anyone, Berry said.

The man’s name was not released.
