A robber got away with pain pills from a Mesa pharmacy Thursday after threatening to set off a bomb.

According to a Mesa police summary, a man placed a bag with a cell phone attached on the counter at Az Discount Pharmacy, 1059 N. Mesa Drive. He then demanded the pills and said he would detonate the bomb if police arrived within three minutes after he left the store.

Police evacuated nearby businesses and conducted a search, but they couldn’t find the robber. Police said the bag did not contain a bomb.

The robber is described as white, in his 30s, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray sweat shirt with red lettering, a red baseball cap and a Bluetooth device.
