BAKER CITY - A Mesa man was killed and his wife injured when their sport utility vehicle lost control and rolled on Interstate 84 just east of Baker City, Oregon.

The accident occurred yesterday afternoon.

Police say a 2003 Ford Excursion towing a travel trailer was being operated by 76-year-old Dean Phelps.

Investigators say Phelps had just passed a truck when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and the travel trailer went sideways, hitting the center barrier.

Phelps was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His wife, 75-year-old Patricia Phelps, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
