Police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of robbing two people with a screwdriver and trying to rob a third.

Armando Reyes Corrales, 21, of Mesa was booked into Mesa City Jail on suspicion of two counts armed robbery and one count robbery, court records show. He is not an illegal alien, records show.

Police suspect Corrales on October 22 held a screwdriver to the throat of a woman as she sat in her car and stole her day planner with credit cards, about 15 minutes before holding a screwdriver toward a man at a gas station and demanding money.

The robber didn’t get any money from the man at the gas station because the man tried to fight the assailant, records show. But five days later, police suspect Corrales robbed a pizza delivery man in the 1700 Block of E. Elton and took money and a Gucci wallet.

Police said they found one victim’s wallet in Corrales’ pocket. Records show the man has prior arrests for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, disorderly conduct involving weapons and false reporting to law enforcement.
