Welcome to the world, Weston, Addison, Brynlee and Cambria. The Cluff quadruplets arrived Wednesday, a bit early, at Banner Children’s Hospital in Mesa, with their birth beginning at 4:19 p.m. At 31 weeks of gestation, all weighed in at more than 3 pounds and are doing fine in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

“They’re beautiful. They’re so precious,” said the newborns’ father, Jeremiah Cluff.

Their mother, Jayne Cluff, had hoped to make it to 34 weeks and doctors were shooting for 32 weeks. But a routine afternoon exam showed that her blood pressure had spiked, so her team at Phoenix Perinatal Associates prepared for an emergency Cesarean section.

“They’re all doing great. The doctors are thrilled,” said Nancy Neff, spokeswoman for the children’s hospital.

Jeremiah was proud of his wife’s resilience throughout the pregnancy. “She did a great job. She just did everything right,” he said.

The couple has chosen names for the four, but hasn’t officially assigned them yet.

Jayne, 30, will spend at least three more days in the hospital, which has been her home since April 6. The babies probably won’t go home for four or five weeks. Their birth marks the hospital’s first set of quadruplets.

Jayne and Jeremiah Cluff are surrounded by friends and family today, but they will need thousands of diapers and cases of formula when they’re finally allowed to bring their two sons and two daughters home to Gilbert.

As Jeremiah Cluff thought of his life with the children, he said: “One journey ends, another begins.”
