Mountain Pointe coach Karl Kiefer said Monday he is ‘‘hanging it up” after 40 years as coach at McClintock and Mountain Pointe high schools. Kiefer had a career record of 308 wins, 138 losses and three ties plus three state titles at McClintock.

Kiefer, with a career record of 308 wins, 138 losses and three ties plus three state titles at McClintock in his tenure there, coached his final game last Thursday in the first round of the 5A Division I playoffs against Mountain View.

The Pride lost to the Toros, 26-7.

‘‘It's time to do it,’’ Kiefer said. ‘‘We had a good year after a slow start. We won the region championship and gave it our best shot in the playoffs. The whole thing, at McClintock and Mountain Pointe, has been a great journey. I have a lot of great memories.’’
