“Something is wrong with this picture: A boy, 15 years old, gets killed in a car accident. How come he was allowed to be driving a Jaguar?”

“Shouldn’t there be flashing warning lights on the McDowell Mountains?”

“Re the Phoenix Open: All that drinking done there late at night at the Birds’ Nest and not one DUI checkpoint. I guess if you’re rich you can get away with such things.”

“The crime statistics say everything: Arizona, from the top cop to the bottom patrolman, has the most incompetent police forces in the country.”

“Pit bulls and Rottweilers are not killer breeds. The people who train them to kill are the killer breeds. Don’t you think that if they were extinct, the killer breeders would turn collies and golden retrievers into killers?

“I am pro-life through-and-through also. But you cannot kill something that has never taken a breath of life. You can only block its path toward becoming a living person and redirect it back to God, which, in many cases, is the humane route. Love should be every baby’s birthright. That is the goal we should be striving for.”

“No man should have a say about abortion. If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.”

“It wouldn’t do much good to have President Bush impeached because the next ones in line are just as bad.”

“We need to remember that our president is a Christian man, and we need to be praying that God’s will will be done, whether there’s a war or not.”

“I did not vote for President Bush but I stand behind him 100 percent because I was wrong. He is a leader. He has taken a stand. I like his cowboy approach, his honesty and he is not stepping back from these other countries.”

“Who would Jesus bomb?”

“Mark Scarp’s columns are just the best thing your paper has going. You need to keep running them every day.”

“Re Mike Ritter’s (Monday) cartoon: Not everyone marches to the tune of a buffoon in cowboy boots. Also, I think it’s time Mr. Ritter goes to see his Army recruiter. Maybe it will widen his horizons. . . .”

“Mike Ritter needs to resist the temptation to produce cutesy cartoons that only reveal his shallow thinking. Witness the German shepherd and French poodle and Saddam Hussein (Monday). Pathetic.”

“Boy, did Mike Ritter hit it right on the nose in Monday’s Tribune. We helped defeat Germany in two wars for France, which did nothing. Now they want to pacify another warmonger like (they did) the Kaiser and Hitler.”

“I agree with the venter who called about the 23 cats. Anyone with that many animals in their house needs to be investigated — and have their head examined, also.”
