A 15-year-old girl and her mother remained in critical condition Wednesday night after they were hit by a tumbling vehicle involved in a crash on a Gilbert Road.

The collision occurred just after 4 p.m. when a Chevy Blazer veered into oncoming traffic and struck another sports-utility vehicle on Cooper Road near Elliot.

The Blazer overturned and rolled onto the sidewalk, hitting Brittany Mederos and her 43-year-old mother, Lisa.

The two were airlifted to nearby hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Blazer, William West, 44, of Gilbert, was also taken to the hospital.

The drivers of the other SUV were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
