An Apache Junction man was sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison Wednesday on child pornography charges.

Paul Richard Butts, 39, had been convicted in February on 15 felony counts of possessing child pornography as well as distributing the material, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Federal officials said he had more than 24,000 images of child pornography on a computer-sharing software program.

FBI agents searched Butts’ home on Oct. 6, 2005, and a forensic analysis of his computer revealed the extensive amount of child pornography on hard drives, storage devices and computer disks.
