— Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has arrived in Kabul, Afghanistan, to spend New Year's Eve with U.S. troops and the Homeland Security officers who have been working with the Afghan government to try to secure that country's porous borders from militants, as well as weapons and drug smugglers.

The department said in a statement that Napolitano will meet with top American and Afghan officials before traveling to the Persian Gulf state of Qatar, then to Israel and Belgium.

Napolitano is checking on progress to track and stop the flow of terrorist financing through the Gulf, and regional efforts to increase aviation security. Yemen's al-Qaida offshoot attempted to bring down two U.S.-bound cargo planes with explosives-packed printer cartridges in September.

Here is what this moron should really be doing:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has arrived in Nogales Arizona, to spend New Year's Eve with U.S. troops and the Homeland Security officers who have been working with Arizona citizens to try to secure that country's porous borders from militants, as well as weapons, drug and human smugglers.

What the flip is she doing on the other side of the world when we a more deadly problem on our Border with Mexico?

Agree that JN needs to spend time walking the US borders and keeping her nose out of anything not involving Homeland Security...
She is as useless as they come, perfect example of political hack getting an important Cabinet post.

UNLESS...she is personally there to kill Bin Laden and his terrorist-bent henchmen. If that is the case, and she can pose with Bin Laden's head on a stick (a la Jeff Dunham's puppets) ) I will applaud her.
    [rolleyes]

Napolitano has some cheek going to Afghanistan and telling them how to fix their borders! She should concentrate on the Homeland Security responsibility she already has and fix our borders.
Time we ditched this useless individual.

Why? She must want all of the names of our service men/women before they return to the U.S. She is the one that considers service personnel possible terrorist threats to America.
