Six Chandler Unified School District students will be honored this weekend for qualifying to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, often noted as, “the world’s most prestigious pre-college science competition.”

Hamilton High School’s Nitish Peela, Jacob Cabrejas, Paula Beatty and Ivy Chang and Chandler High School’s Tejas Dharmaraj and Manav Sevak qualified for the 2013 fair, which will take place Sunday through Friday at the Phoenix Convention Center. It will return to Phoenix in 2016 and 2019.

Twenty Arizona students were selected to participate this year, based on their projects and innovations.

Craig Barrett, former Intel chairman and CEO, will honor the students Saturday at the Arizona Science Center during a morning event.
