Creating modern sports cars out of 1960s and early-1970s Chrysler vehicles might seem like an oxymoron, but not in the eyes of Xtreme Velocity (XV) Motorsports, based in Irving, N.Y.

After substantial research and development with the same technology used to develop Formula One racing cars, XV has fused modern technology with classic muscle car looks by preparing reengineered front and rear suspension and braking systems as well as chassis bracing to update most 1968-’70 B-body Chryslers (Satellite, Road Runner, Charger, Coronet, etc.) as well as E-Body models (Dodge Challenger (pictured) and Plymouth Barracuda). Level I is an optimized stock suspension while Level II replaces all the stock parts with XV’s gear, from the K-frame to the control arms and rear leaf springs.

According to XV, the ride and handling are on par with just about any high-performance vehicle build today. XV is a one-stop shop that can also install modern fuel-injected V8 horsepower (Hemi, of course, up to 1,000 hp) in the same Chrysler products, as well as updated interiors with modern creature comforts.

You can order the bits and pieces to develop your own car, or drop the whole thing off at XV for the full-meal deal. Visit www.xvmotorsports.com or call 914-693-1122.
