Fuel prices around the East Valley jumped nearly 10 cents in the last week, according to a report from AAA Arizona.
Wednesday’s average fuel price was $3.227, up 9.5 cents since the previous week. That’s also a 23.5 cent jump in the last month.
The statewide average rose almost 8 cents to $3.193 per gallon, while the national average also climbed almost 8 cents to $3.394 per gallon.
“Arizona’s average has drifted 14 cents higher through the first 30 days of 2013,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “This is largely due to oil prices that have risen as a result of positive economic news and recent regional refinery issues. And unfortunately, it is a trend that will likely continue in the short-term.”
Tucson and Flagstaff hold the low and high state fuel averages at $3.019 and $3.319 per gallon, respectively.
