Bernards, a builder with five offices in the Southwest, has been named one of several general contractors for the master-planned community Eastmark in Mesa. The Phoenix office of Bernards will oversee grading of the first 11 neighborhoods in the 2,400-acre, multi-phase development at the former General Motors Proving Grounds.
Eastmark is owned by Scottsdale-based DMB Associates. The first homes within Eastmark are scheduled to be ready in 2013. The initial section will begin with 700 homes on 220 acres.

Bernards is under contract with the first 7 home builders at Eastmark. Rummel Construction is the grading contractor working for Bernards. Rummel is also performing all of the mass grading at Eastmark and the General Contractor responsible for constructing 2 miles of sewer line in Ray Road from Signal Butte Road to Ellsworth Road.
