A Valley-based pizzeria chain with nearly half of its stores in the East Valley is helping out St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance in a big way and plans to make it an annual event.
Barro’s Pizza, which has 31 locations throughout the Valley and 15 locations in East Valley cities – Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert and Ahwatukee Foothills -- is donating 100 percent of its proceeds from 10 a.m. to close on Tuesday, Dec. 4 to the food bank with hopes of being able to provide 500,000 meals to the needy and hungry of Arizona.
For every $1 raised, St. Mary’s can distribute seven meals.
For those who buy a $10 pizza, customers are providing 70 meals to the hungry. A $50 order provides 350 meals.
Barro’s is an Arizona-family-owned business by Mike and Bruce Barro.
“We’re hoping this will be an incredible day for St. Mary’s Food Bank and a great way to wrap up our 45th anniversary year,” said Jerry Brown, spokesman for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. “This will be a great event and great opportunity to help a lot of people out throughout the Valley.”

Good for Barro's. You will never see the corrupt corporation Papa Johns do anything charitable.
