Arizona's second Juicy Couture store opened Thursday at Kierland Commons, the upscale, Main Street-style shopping center at Greenway Parkway and Scottsdale Road.

The new Juicy store is sandwiched between Coach and Banana Republic in Sigrid Olsen's former digs.

Designer Olsen closed down her shops and clothing line earlier this year.

Juicy's funky clothing and accessories appeal to the hip, young and well-heeled shoppers.

The first local Juicy Couture store debuted at Scottsdale Fashion Square a couple of years ago.

Paradise Valley Mall, Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard, launched a plastic bag exchange program this week.

From now through Nov. 26, shoppers can trade in at least five plastic shopping bags from any stores at the "Bag Central Station" for a free reusable cloth tote bag.

The Bag Central Station is at the mall's Guest Services desk.

Bag Central Stations can also be found in supermarkets across the Valley. Paradise Valley Mall is one of the first nongrocery locations for the Phoenix-based bag-recycling program.

Also new to the east Phoenix mall popular with Scottsdale shoppers are a couple of just-opened kiosks - S Communications sells T-Mobile phones and services, and Nu Smile offers the latest trends in teeth whitening.

Forever Young Wigs, which will sell natural hair and costume wigs, extensions and accessories, is expected to open this weekend in store space near J.C. Penney.

Emerald City Smoothie has opened a Scottsdale shop at 14843 N. Northsight Blvd. inside Gold's Gym.

According to shop owner Andy Paroline, Emerald City Smoothies use fresh fruit ingredients, primarily strawberries and bananas, as a base, which provide customers with the vitamins, protein and minerals they would typically receive in a well-balanced meal.

CrossFit Scottsdale, a fitness training center tucked inside health and wellness center The Edge on Wellness, is planning its grand opening Tuesday.

The combo facility is at 9160 E. Shea Blvd.

CrossFit is a high-intensity workout regime, developed for law enforcement and the military, that claims to boost both strength and conditioning in as little as 20 minutes, according to business owner Luke Kayyem.
