The Tempe and Arizona Hispanic chambers of commerce will host a forum in Tempe on Wednesday, Aug. 1 featuring candidates for Congressional District 9. Each candidate has been asked to present an opening statement on the economy, Arizona and the nation’s fast-growing Hispanic market, and audience members will have a chance to ask questions as well.
Invitations were extended to the 11 candidates in the race, and eight candidates have confirmed so far. The candidates are Democrats Andrei Cherny, David Schapira, and Krysten Sinema; Republicans Lisa Borowsky, Leah Campos Schandlbauer, Travis Grantham, Vernon Parker, Wendy Rogers, Martin Sepulveda, and Jeff Thompson; and Libertarian Powell Gammill.
The forum is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Rio Salado Conference Center, 2323 E. 14th St. A meet-and-greet with the candidates will follow the forum.

Tempe and Arizona hispanic chamber of commerce---does this sound un american to anyone? Would a newly formed Swiss, tempe/Arizona, chamber of commerce be labeled racist? Why does ethnicity trump American identity and values? When someone asks me, what am I, proudly does this citizen exclaim-----AMERICAN!
