“Dignity Health Foundation — East Valley,” the fundraising arm of Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers, has announced that the Gila River Indian Community is the recipient of its annual donor of the year award.

According to a press release, “Gila River Indian Community has been a long-time friend of the Foundation, providing generous financial support to Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert.”

Added Cheryl Pablo, program administrator for the Gila River Indian Community: “The relationship between our community and Dignity Health has helped to establish new services and strengthen existing ones.”

The Gila River Indian Community initially provided a $1 million grant to support the building of Mercy Gilbert. In gratitude for their continued generosity, the Gila River Indian Community Healing Garden was named in their honor.
