City of Chandler offers help with tax returns

From Monday, Jan. 30 through April 12, the city of Chandler will provide free tax preparation services at four Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in an effort to help low- and moderate-income residents claim their refunds and up to $5,600 in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC).

Sites and hours include:

• First Credit Union, 25 S. Arizona Place - Free walk-in tax prep services every Monday from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• Community Services of Arizona, 650 N. Arizona Ave. - By appointment Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Call (480) 963-4321, ext. 230.

• The Chandler CARE Center, 777 E. Galveston St. - Every Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, 2145 W. Elliot Road - Walk-in service on Mondays and Thursdays from 1-5 p.m.

Persons seeking assistance should bring the following documents with them: W-2 forms, photo ID, Social Security cards (including those of all dependents), Form 1099 (if applicable), and a copy of last year's tax return and information for all deductions and credits.
