Job title: Records Clerk II, City of Phoenix Aviation Department; How did Galaviz get his job? Galaviz has been employed with the Aviation Department for 11 years, but he’s worked for the City of Phoenix for 20 years.

He started as a Water Meter Reader (in the Water Department) and worked his way up.

“I feel that my job is important because I make sure that customers are getting into a safe vehicle when they use ground transportation from the airport."

Education?

High school graduate, currently working on associate’s degree at Phoenix College (nearly finished!).

What are your main duties?

“I assist in issuing permits to ground transportation providers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. These include taxis, limousines, shuttle services and VIP services. I help inspect the vehicles for proper safety equipment and maintain drivers’ records.”

What do you like best?

“I feel that my job is important because I make sure that customers are getting into a safe vehicle when they use ground transportation from the airport. I am a people person and I interact with hundreds of people every day. I enjoy that.”

What education or skills are required for this job?

“Good customer service and public relations skills. You have to be very organized and detail oriented. You also must have the ability to enforce rules while providing good customer service.”
