A national chain of arts and crafts stores has signed a lease to set up shop in a former Mervyn’s department store in Scottsdale this fall.

Hobby Lobby expects to employ 35 to 40 people at the store, which will be at East Indian Bend Road off the Loop 101 Pima Freeway.

In June, Hobby Lobby announced plans for a 55,000-square-foot store in Chandler this October in a former Circuit City at West Chandler Boulevard near Loop 101. The company’s ninth Arizona location opened July 4 in Lake Havasu City.
