When I moved here a year ago with my husband as his 101 Mother's declining health, and still living independently in her own home, I didn't think I would have much difficulty is finding a job. I worked for Premera Blue Cross in Mountlake Terrace WA for 5 years as a claims processor. Although I have applied for jobs here, I'm still unemployed. It seems 95% of businesses here go through a staffing agency. I understand it's economics on the businesses' part, as it eliminates the taking of applications and resumes, and sorting out potential employees, but it's disheartening because I know I'm capable of doing the job, and I can't get past the staffing agency. Older persons need jobs too, not just young adults out of school.
Thanks for letting me vent a little.

Older persons would be the last hired for any job, it seems, these days. They see the age, and there goes the resume into the shredder. They want those who are pretty much naive and clueless, as they are more easily controlled, unlike an older person who has experience, has been around, knows how things work (or how they used to work, anyhow). Can't be having anyone around the workplace that might have an original thought.
These outfits know the odds are on their side, and don't care how they treat people.
Hope the Karma kicks in fairly soon, to teach them badly needed lesson.
