Five Valley nonprofits each received grants this month from the US Airways.
The grants are part of the 2012 Community Education Grant Program, designed to help developmentally disabled students or those from low-socioeconomic families, or to fund programs that increase student interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The Arizona Science Center, Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix, Elevate Phoenix, Hands On Greater Phoenix and the Phoenix Symphony each received a $10,000 grant. All together, $170,000 was awarded nationwide to 17 groups.
