Drivers around the East Valley saw pump prices jump about .7 cent on Thursday, according to AAA Arizona. Fuel prices were at $3 per gallon around Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler and the Ahwatukee Foothills.
The statewide average was $3.046, a half-cent slip from the previous week. The national average went up nearly 2 cents to $3.310.
“AAA is projecting that prices in 2013 will be lower than 2012, barring unforeseen circumstances,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs. “This is good news for motorists, especially considering 2012 was the most expensive fuel year on record.”
