Pump prices jumped more than a dime for East Valley drivers in the last week, according to AAA Arizona. And in the last month, they have increased nearly 60 cents.

Drivers in Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler and Tempe were paying an average $3.778 per gallon last week. That’s just above last year’s average at the same time of $3.742.

Across the state, pump prices are up 11 cents in a week and 56 in the last month to a five-month high of $3.74 per gallon.

Nationally, prices increased less than a penny over last week to $3.78 per gallon.

“Many motorists are unaware of the breakdown of a gallon of gasoline and are becoming increasingly frustrated with the recent spike in fuel prices,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “While refinery maintenance and the higher cost of crude have kept prices elevated so far this year, AAA maintains that prices should peak soon and start to level out as we move into summer.”

This just can't be right! I was promised prices would go down, wages up and taxes would only effect the uber rich.
