Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air, which began serving Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport less than a year ago, drastically increased its passenger counts, according to its latest report.
Last month, the number of passengers on the carrier increased 52.7 percent over May 2007, going from 246,569 to 376,622.
The airline that links small cities at relatively low costs to large destinations such as Las Vegas, the Valley and Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla., increased the number of departures by 44 percent, going from 2,162 in May 2007 to 3,113 last month.
