Retail corridor: 2 Fiesta Mall stores closing

Two stores at Fiesta Mall are going out of business. D.e.m.o, a hip-hop clothing store for men and women, is in the process of liquidating its inventory, but the exact closing date is unclear.

A store manager cited company financial reasons for the closure.

Fame - the clothing chain, not the musical - will also shutter its Fiesta Mall location next month, said store manager, Cindy Chung.

Chung said the store was not doing enough business at the mall to justify staying open.

Meanwhile, After Hours Formalwear - a retailer of formal attire - is opening soon at the mall, but the exact date is unclear.

Fiesta Mall is located on Southern Avenue between Dobson and Alma School roads in Mesa.

Vans store opens

Superstition Springs Center at Southern Avenue and Power Road in Mesa is adding a new Vans shoe store.

Vans, a brand that became a fashion staple within the skateboarding subculture of the late 1970s and early 1980s, sells a variety of men's and women's shoes and clothing.

CarMax in Gilbert

CarMax, a chain of used car dealerships, is opening a location in Gilbert at the SanTan Motorplex.

The dealership, north of the Santan Freeway section of Loop 202 and west of Val Vista Drive, will employ about 135 workers.

The company is also opening a store in Tolleson.

Rich Aroma

Rich Aroma Coffee Co. opened its second Valley location at the Mesa Riverview shopping center, which is just south of Loop 202 on Dobson Road in Mesa.

To christen the new digs, the owner will hand out free cups of coffee for five days starting on Monday.

Whole Foods grows

The East Valley's newest Whole Foods Market opened on Wednesday.

The new natural and organic grocery store is located in Chauncey Ranch off Loop 101 at Scottsdale Road.

Store gets new look

An old Food 4 Less grocery store in Mesa is getting a face-lift and some new occupants.The 50,000-square-foot shell on Gilbert Road north of Southern Avenue will contain a small grocery store, an auto parts retailer and a third unknown retailer.
