Job title: Aquatic Director of Swimkids USA, Mesa; Education: Trained at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, from Whitworth College.
How did you get your job?
“After meeting and working together in conferences at the Olympic Training Center, Lana Whitehead and I came together here in Arizona to lead Swimkids USA to be the greatest swim school ever, where families could feel loved while receiving world class swim lessons and customer service.”
What are your main duties?
“My primary duties are to interview and hire swim teachers, train swim teachers, manage quality control in the lessons, provide continual teacher development opportunities, schedule classes and teachers, and pursue opportunities for Swimkids USA to expand its influence across the East Valley. I also teach classes and coach the Swimkids Swim Team.”
What do you like best?
“First, seeing students succeed at a skill and smile from ear-to-ear for their accomplishments and second, watching a teacher beam with pride when they successfully guide a child through a challenging time using the teaching skills and information learned here at Swimkids USA.”
Describe a memorable on-the-job experience
“First, I met my wife, Jen, here at Swimkids USA. Second, was being the emcee of Blake’s Miracle Day back in March 2006, and having the privilege to announce how far the kids swam or how long they floated to raise money for alternative pain management at Banner Children’s Hospital.”
