Two organizations representing the government and workers have organized a career expo in Mesa with almost 80 different employers on hand and in search of new employees.

Organized by the Department of Economic Security and the Arizona Workforce Connection, the first DES Career Expo EAST offers job seekers a means of meeting with 77 different employers. The companies on hand cover a variety of fields like banking, engineering, customer service, law enforcement, retail, restaurants and others.

Some of the specific organizations involved in the event included Whataburger; H & R Block; CenturyLink; Circle K; GoDaddy; Paypal; Avon; Arizona Department of Corrections; Arizona Department of Revenue; Norwegian Cruise Line; Verizon Wireless; Wells Fargo Bank; and East Valley Medical College.

Due to the nature of the event, the organizers recommend visitors dress in business attire and bring many copies of their resumes with them for the prospective employers.

The free event is scheduled for Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mesa Convention Center, which is located at 201 N. Center Street.

A full list of employers, as well as additional information, is available by visiting either azjobconnection.gov or http://evtnow.com/5vq.
