Frontier Airlines will land its first flight at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Thursday.
Earlier this year, Frontier announced it would start flying out of the Mesa airport, making it the third airline to offer passenger service in Mesa, along with Allegiant and Spirit.
The flight arriving Thursday will originate in Denver. Service begins just in time for Colorado ski season.
Mesa City Manager Chris Brady, Mesa Vice Mayor Scott Somers, and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority Board Past Chair and Gilbert Mayor John Lewis will all attend the celebration. Frontier Airlines Vice President Greg Aretakis and Visit Mesa President and CEO Marc Garcia will speak at a ceremony inside the passenger terminal.
