Chandler district approves proposed budget, meal fee increase

The Chandler Unified School District governing board approved the 2012-2013 proposed budget this week.

The $206 million proposed budget will be up for final approval 7 p.m. July 11 at the district office during a public hearing in the board room, 1525 W. Frye Road.

On Tuesday, the governing board also approved a 25-cent increase in lunch prices for all grade levels. The increase is needed, the board was told, for the district to stay in compliance with new federal guidelines for school meals.

With the increases, an elementary school lunch will cost $2.50; a junior high school lunch will cost $2.75 and a high school lunch will cost $3.25.
