PHOENIX - Another round of showers and thunderstorms hit parts of the Valley this afternoon dumping around a quarter of an inch of rain over parts of Phoenix and North Scottsdale.

It started around 4 p.m. this afternoon in north Scottsdale before moving down into parts of Phoenix around 5 p.m.

As of 6 p.m., rain started tapering off in Phoenix with a new, powerful storm popping up near the White Tanks and drifting south past I-10 through 7 p.m.

Here's a look at some rainfall totals so far (as of 6:30 p.m.):

New River - 0.16"

Dreamy Draw Dam - 0.16"

16th St and Missouri - 0.20"

36th St and Camelback - 0.24"

Pima and Dynamite - 0.28"

32nd St and Thomas - 0.28"

16th St and Thomas - 0.35"

Any of the storms that pop up have the potential to bring flooding rains, strong gusty winds, blowing dust and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.

Our monsoon ridge of high pressure continues to dominate our forecast bringing the moisture in from the south and keeping temperatures hot.

So, chances for storms will be best in mountains, but here in the Valley a 20 percent chance will remain in the forecast through the workweek.

Valley highs will be a degree or two below normal all week with little to no change. Expect a high of 101 or 102 at Phoenix Sky Harbor each day this week with overnight lows in the low to mid 80s.
