Monday night, the Red Cross was responding to a Mesa mobile home park that was damaged during a powerful storm that brought high winds, hail and flooding to parts of the East Valley.

As of 9:40 p.m., www.srpnet.com was showing power outages in east Mesa, Scottsdale and south of Guadalupe.

ABC15 reported that the roof was torn off a mobile home in Mesa near Broadway and Higley roads, but that the woman inside was uninjured. The storm also reportedly knocked down trees in Chandler, Gilbert and east Mesa. Ahwatukee Foothills was hammered with hail and wind gusts near 40 mph.

A trained weather spotter for ABC15 reported 1.25 inches of rain in 35 minutes near University and the Red Mountain 202.

This "taxpayer", paying his "fair share", missed the storm last night that knocked down my tree. You see, I was too busy paying taxes to subsidize the food stamp program. And as we all know, this socialized federal program , is one of the main factors driving our economic recovery. Thank you, Barry Soweto, for your economic wisdom and unparalleled foresight. November can't come soon enough.
