Moisture is moving and dark clouds have even kicked out a few sprinkles in some Valley spots already.

Rain chances continue at 20 percent for the rest of today and tonight around the Valley.

Highs will only reach the upper 80s with lows tonight in the 50s.

The changes are moving in as a powerful cold front approaches the area.

Breezes are starting to pick up too with much stronger winds up north. Look for peak wind gusts there near 40 mph.

Friday will be the windiest day around our state as a cold front moves in. Particularly across northern Arizona, where gusts could be near 60 mph from the Mogollon Rim to the north! High Wind Watches and Warnings are already posted and that could also lead to some blowing dust across northeast portions of the state.

Showers will develop as the front tracks across our state starting today and continuing through early Saturday morning.

The snow level will start out around 8,500 feet, but it will quickly drop to 4,500 feet by Friday night and then down around 3,500 across Northern Arizona by Saturday. Right now, it looks like we will see some light snowfall accumulations around 1 to 3 inches above 5,000 feet.

Here in the Valley, we will see a slight chance for rain at 10 percent tonight and 20 percent Friday and 10 percent again Saturday with most of the activity staying in the mountains to our north and east.

The big cool-down with this system will come in two doses. The first batch of cold air will drop us 10 to 12 degrees on Friday, putting Valley highs in the low to mid 70s. Then, we'll drop another 10 to 12 degrees on Saturday. That will bring Valley highs down into the low 60s, putting us nearly 15 degrees below normal.

We'll be dry again by Sunday for Veterans Day but temperatures will be just as cool.

Then, we will be back in the low 70s under sunny skies for the start of next week with mid 70s expected by Tuesday.
