Tempe moviegoers got more than they bargained for Saturday night when rain caused part of the theater ceiling to fall on them.

The manager of the Pollack Tempe Cinemas at Elliot Road and McClintock Drive said the rain started a leak in the roof that led to a partial ceiling collapse.

Employees tried to block off the area, but customers sat in that section anyway.

One man was hit by debris, but was not seriously hurt.

Everyone in the theater was given refunds for the show. Managers said they are working on more permanent repairs.
