Nathan's and the IFOCE has donated 350,000 hot dogs combined over the last two years to Norhwest Harvest Food Bank in honor of the 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. That alone is more hot dogs than has ever been consumed in all of the Nathan's contests in history. Nathan's also gives out hot dogs after the contest to anyone who is interested. The contest is free entertainment, you really can't complain and trust me, everyone cares about the homeless and because of these eating contests, ironicall just as you requested - more people get fed. What do you have to complain about really?? People just want to find the negative in life, I understand, but honestly sometimes you should dig a little deeper.

In Mesa, the homeless get two free really good meals a day. They get some really good foods for dinner. I've volunteered there. I don't know about the other cities and what they do. But I do agree with what you're saying that something should be donated.

I would be much more "on-board" with this if they passed out some food to the homeless while they were at it. They could at least make a big food donation to the food banks. Watching people go hungry while others gorge themselves for the sake of winning a trophy just doesn't seem right in these times.
