Police arrested a Scottsdale man Wednesday on suspicion of kidnapping a Mesa woman and raping her.

Stevie Anderson, 36, and a friend are suspected of drugging a 24-year-old woman at Next nightclub, 7111 E. Fifth Ave. in Scottsdale, then taking her to an apartment and raping her.

Police are trying to confirm the friend’s identity.

The woman and her female friends met Anderson and his friends Tuesday at Kona Grill, 7014 E. Camelback Road. The group

drank at the restaurant before heading to the nightclub, where the victim told police she passed out despite drinking only water.

The men took the woman to an apartment in the 8000 block of East Lincoln Drive and raped her, police said.

She awoke in the middle of the night and called her friends to pick her up, and about 7:30 a.m. went to Banner Baywood Medical Center’s emergency room in Mesa, police said.

A nurse recognized the situation as rape and called police.

Police said some physical evidence may be hard to obtain because of the delay between the incident and medical tests.

Police said the women were acquaintances of the men.

Next nightclub management didn’t return phone messages seeking comment.
