A 60-year-old Scottsdale woman was hospitalized with head injuries Wednesday after her car was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old boy, police said. The boy failed to yield while turning left at Bell Road and Thompson Peak Parkway, police said.

The boy, an Apache Junction resident, was cited for failing to yield, and the intersection was closed at about 1 p.m. for two hours while officers investigated.
