Scottsdale transportation officials want residents to prepare themselves for the closure of Pima Road near Loop 101 on two straight weekends, beginning Friday night.
The closures — from the freeway exit north to Hualapai Drive — will take place from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday and 8 p.m. Nov. 17 to 5 a.m. Nov. 20.
The freeway exit will be open to allow access to and from Princess Drive south of the freeway, but motorists will not be able to enter or exit the freeway via Pima Road north of Loop 101.
For alternate routes, officials recommend Hayden Road and Thompson Peak Parkway. Local access will be provided to residents living along Pima south of Thompson Peak in Ironwood Village, Pima Acres, DC Ranch and Grayhawk. Access to homes will be provided from the north via the intersection of Pima
Road and Thompson Peak Parkway.
The closures are necessary to connect the new section of a wider Pima Road to the existing interchange and roadway.
After Nov. 20, two lanes will be open in each direction at all times.
Intermittent closures of the third lane of traffic will take place through mid-January to allow work on landscaping and roadwork at major intersections.
