Authorities say an Arizona State Prison Complex inmate has died of an apparent homicide.

Officials with the state Arizona Department of Corrections say Earl Lappe was found dead Thursday in the Lewis Morey Unit of the state prison complex in Buckeye.

The death is being investigated and an autopsy has been ordered by the Maricopa County medical examiner.

The 32-year-old Lappe was admitted to the state prison system in December 2003 to serve a life sentence for first-degree murder.
