PHOENIX - A Peoria man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison and lifetime probation after pleading guilty to sex crimes involving three girls who lived at his home.

John Raney, 55, received the maximum time allowable under the terms of a recent plea agreement in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Raney pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted sexual conduct with a minor.

He was arrested by Peoria police on Oct. 13, 2006, after an investigation disclosed he engaged in sexual contact with the girls and took photographs of the acts.

Authorities said the girls were 5, 9 and 11 at the time of Raney's arrest.
